WGC 2024 Uvalde – Local Restaurants on Main Street.

Restaurants of Uvalde

We are at the halfway mark in the contest and I’m sure you are getting tired of the same places to eat.  Let me give you a couple of options from long time contest pilots at Uvalde.  First is Vasquez 1935, a nice Tex Mex restaurant on Main Street in Uvalde.  It has been family owned since 1935, so you know it has a great business model.  Their top shelf margarita is excellent, and the Vasquez Enchiladas are my favorite.  Service is excellent and Sophia is our favorite server.

Next is El Herradero de Jalisco, a regional chain in Texas.  You will find several in Uvalde, but we will go to the one on Main Street.  Their margaritas are not as good as Vasquez’s, but they are still better than most other restaurants.  They do have draft Mexican and domestic beers, a big plus with our discriminating group.

When you get tired of Tex Mex food, try Broadway 830, again on Main Street.  It sells artisan pizza, calzones, pasta and other dishes that are all very good.  Draft beer is also offered, and we have been there several times.  We know that Team Finland likes it.

One new coffee place will be opening soon.  The Local Fix is a coffee shop that makes Starbucks look like McDonalds.  The new building is almost complete, and the shop is expected to open on Tuesday.  I have seen the menu, and it looks fantastic.  The old Local Fix was small but had great coffee and locally made pastries.  The breakfast menu was very good, and Pete Alexander and I always ate there.  The new Local Fix will be opened for all three meals with a somewhat upscale dinner menu.  The breakfast menu looks the same, which is a plus since I loved all of it.  The service is fantastic and the people there are great.  We will let you know when the grand opening is scheduled for.  Hopefully it will be before we leave Uvalde.

Well, that is all for now.  Tomorrow, I’ll tell you about the better places to find red meat.  Hope you enjoyed this presentation.

Cheers,
