Day 10
Good morning and welcome to the final 3 days of the 2024 World Gliding Championship. The competition to get on the podium is close, and the final 3 days the weather will be a little tricky. Yesterday we saw a shakeup in the scores in the Open Class, with 7 out of the 17 ships not completing the task. The spread between the number 1 and 2 is 97 points but these pilots are both from Team Germany. However, the spread between the 4th and 3rd place is only 21 points. You can go down to every class and see similar point spreads. The chance to get on a podium in the WGC creates a lot of stress. However, it does not seem to bother anyone much.
The weather today will be very difficult. Many are hoping the leaders will step into a hole and lose a good number of points. The leaders just want to get through this day without too much trouble. The launch is scheduled for 12:30 and you can already see rain in the distance. The only good thing is that the rain is not on anyone’s task, yet.
Well, they are all in the air and I think I will get some lunch and wait till they return around 5pm. See you in a few hours.
